Advances in Electrode Technology Could Mean Less Invasive Surgery for Neurosurgery Patients

An estimated 5.8 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's dementia, and almost two-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer's are women. As the number of older Americans increases, it is likely that the number of new cases of Alzheimer's will also rise.

In fact, studies have shown that, without medical breakthroughs to prevent, slow or cure Alzheimer’s disease, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer’s dementia may grow to 13.8 million by 2050 with the total cost for patient care projected to exceed $1.1 trillion.

During Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, NeuroOne takes the opportunity to voice its support for the Alzheimer's Association and its campaign to “go purple” in raising awareness about Alzheimer's and other neurological conditions. Other brain disorders include epilepsy, Parkinson's and other movement disorders, stroke, and transient ischemic attack.
